The School of History, Law and Social Science are set to host a series of free online lectures. These lectures are聽tailored for students thinking about studying at University. Designed to give you a taste of what it's like to study at University level, they are a great way to get to know a subject area better and get a taste of what's to come! There will be various opportunities to engage in Welsh and English Medium lectures, all are delivered virtually through Microsoft Teams. Throughout the sessions students are encouraged to partake and engage in debates and discussions.聽

29/10/2024 (Tuesday), 5pm, From Conspiracy to the Campaign Trail: Unpacking the 2024 US Presidential Race with a Historical Lens -聽Join our History, Politics and contemporary Archaeology lecturers as they discuss the campaign leading to the upcoming US Presidential Election on 5th November, which sees Donald Trump and Kamala Harris grappling for the White House. The last few months have been both engrossing and contentious, with suspected assassination attempts on Trump, a late change of candidate for the Democrats and controversial claims around gender, race and even eating cats and dogs. We鈥檒l be placing the election in historical context by comparing with the 1968 Presidential contest; dissecting how fake news, conspiracy and slogans have made myth-making central to the political agenda, and also contrasting the Presidential race with the July 2024 British General Election.

Police officers are responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the public, and ensuring the safety of all.
